Muralismo en Puerto Vallarta

Visitar Puerto Vallarta siempre nos brinda la oportunidad de apreciar el colorido que se hace presente tanto en el arte público como en la diversidad cultural que ahí converge. Al desplazarnos por sus calles podemos ver una gran variedad de expresiones artísticas que se han hecho in situ para el disfrute de las personas que buscan una experiencia estética y divertida; esculturas, instalaciones, murales, intervenciones efímeras, y arte urbano son solo algunos ejemplos de lo que usted puede llegar a encontrar. La necesidad de que el arte fuera accesible más allá de los museos motivó a los artistas a instalar o ejecutar sus piezas en espacios comunes y al aire libre, a lo cual, se le fue conociendo como arte público. Pero el dominio de las calles para fines artísticos llevó un largo proceso de acuerdos y gestiones que provenían de la iniciativa pública, privada, o del mismo artista quien buscó esos espacios para que su mensaje fuera visto, transformando lo que hoy conocemos de este puerto. 

En el México moderno el muralismo es pionero en impactar el entorno. Su proyección internacional y los años que tiene de tradición han hecho que, hasta el día de hoy, jóvenes artistas gestionen espacios o sean contratados para proyectar sus coloridos diseños en muros. Como ejemplo contamos con el artista Misael Iván López quien nos ha orientado en este tema y quien ha estado trabajando como muralista en Puerto Vallarta desde 2010. Al respecto comenta que el muralismo además de haber servido históricamente como un arma política, en la actualidad sirve para transmitir un mensaje de paz y armonía. Su estilo combina la pintura psicodélica del arte tradicional mexicano y el grafiti chicano y neoyorkino. Para concluir quisimos preguntarle al artista: ¿Cuál cree que es la relación entre el arte y la salud? a lo cual comentó que “la mente es cuerpo, el arte es educación y el mensaje que la obra transmite es como una semilla”.
