La catarata es la opacidad del lente natural del ojo, llamado cristalino, el cual se vuelve opaco por distintas causas, siendo la más común la edad y otras como medicamentos, traumatismos e inclusive se puede nacer con cataratas.  Las cataratas se pueden solucionar con una sencilla cirugía, la cual se realiza a través de unas pequeñas incisiones y mediante ultrasonido se destruye y absorbe para después colocar un lente artificial dentro del ojo, el cual realizará las funciones del cristalino. Siempre es importante valorar al paciente detenidamente, escuchar sus expectativas, sus necesidades y analizar qué tipo de actividades realiza o espera realizar para así poder dar una asesoría correcta y que él tome la mejor decisión informada. 

Cataract is the opacity of the natural lens of the eye called crystalline which becomes opaque due to different causes, being the most common age and other causes like medication, trauma and we can even be born with cataracts. The cataracts can be solved with a simple surgery, which is performed through small incisions and destroyed by ultrasound to then absorbed and finally place an artificial lens inside the eye, which will perform the functions as our natural lens. It is always important to evaluate the patients carefully, listen to their expectations, their needs and analyze what type of activities they perform or hope to perform in order to give correct advice and that they make the best informed decision
